The arched slender case with glazed front and sides and ending in a waisted and moulded terminal, front door with twin locks, with openwork apron below and silvered sight ring to the 4 7/8 in. (12.5 cm.) diameter silvered and engraved regulator format dial, signed JOHNSON & SON DERBY & LONDON, gilt hour and minute hands and blued steel seconds, the eight day movement with circular plates joined by four back-screwed pillars, maintaining power, wheels with five crossings, sprung line guard, dead beat escapement with separately-screwed right-angled pallets and positioned on the back plate, sprung adjustment to the crutch, movement secured on an iron bracket to the backboard, the latter also secured with four brass screws, steel rod pendulum with twin mercury jars (mercury removed) suspended from the backboard; single brass weight, bone-handled crank key, case key
