The case with eagle finial and acroteria mouldings to the angles, inset brass columns with Corinthian capitals to the front, loop handles to the sides above fishscale sound frets, the plinth inset with a spirit level glass and raised on brass ball feet, the white enamel Roman dial with slow/fast sector below XII and signed JOSIAH BARTHOLOMEW/RED LION STREET/CLERKENWELL, pierced brass Dwerrihouse style hands, the eight day movement with shouldered plates joined by five pillars, twin chain fusees with anchor escapement, strike/trip repeat on bell to rear, pendulum regulation across the top of the plates, the front plate with (Thwaites) number 5178, the back plate with engraved border, pendulum holdfast and repeat signature; pendulum with engraved bob, crank key, two case keys
