A Dutch giant ebonised and brass-mounted striking and musical table clock with moonphase
19th Century with earlier components
The stepped bell top case surmounted by pineapple finials, all angles canted and applied with mounts cast as female busts trailing flowers, brass handles to the sides above doors with glazed panels, brass-lined front and rear doors, on foliate cast scroll feet, the brass dial with Indian mask spandrels to silvered and arcaded chapter ring, matted centre with mock pendulum and date apertures, blued steel hands, flanked by subsidiary rings for slaan/niet slaan and speelen/niet speelen, the arch with painted rolling moon and tune selection (March Pr.Eugene/Menuet; Allmand/Rigodon; Vyn Pars/Soot Maisie; Menuet/La Jalousie; Menuet/Miller V. Mansfield; Menuet/Mirliton) , the eight day movement with seven pillars (lower two threaded), verge escapement, Dutch rack strike on two bells and music on thirteen bells with twenty-two hammers via 8. 1/8 in. (20.5 cm.) long pinned cylinder positioned across the top of the back plate, the latter elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls and a flower basket; movement basically 18th Century; case key
