A PAIR OF GERMAN (SUHL) FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS
Circa 1745-50
With swamped sighted etched twist barrels formed with tapering flats and the breeches chiselled with panels of rococo scrollwork in low relief on a matted gilt ground, the tangs and locks en suite, moulded figured walnut full stocks each with an elaborate rococo plaque cast in low relief and inset about the barrel tang, and with full brass mounts, the fore-end caps and the ramrod tips all decorated en suite.
