A COMBINED HUNTING-SWORD AND FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Mid-18th Century
With straight hollow-ground blade cut with a narrow fuller below the back-edge, double-edged towards the point, and the ricasso carrying a turn-off pistol barrel on the right and a pan and steel on the left, iron hilt formed with a large fluted convex shell down-turned over the breech of the barrel, slender knuckle-guard with medial moulding, fluted domed cap pommel with button, and fluted horn grip containing the lock mechanism and slotted for both the cock and trigger, Birmingham proof marks.
