A FLINTLOCK TURN-OFF PISTOL BY (JOSEPH) CLARKSON, LONDON Circa 1730
With three-stage cannon barrel signed on the breech and inscribed 'London' below the pan, engraved tang, border-engraved action, trigger-guard safety-catch released by a spring-stud, swelling figured walnut butt, and silver mounts finely cast in low relief, each decorated with grotesques, comprising pierced side-plate en rocailles, butt-cap, and escutcheon engraved with the owner's crest and an Earl's coronet.
