A RARE CASED PAIR OF FORSYTH PATENT SECOND MODEL SLIDING PRIMER DUELLING PISTOLS BY FORSYTH & CO., PATENT GUN MAKERS, LONDON

With heavy browned twist octagonal sighted barrels signed in full, case-hardened breeches each with two platinum lines, fitted with screwless slide-bars for the priming-magazines each finely engraved with scrolls and each with engraved platinum plug, engraved breech tangs each with back-sight, signed engraved detented locks each with safety-catch and retained by a single side-nail entering from the right, engraved patent second model sliding primers, figured walnut half-stocks, chequered butts, blued trigger-guards engraved en suite with the locks, engraved case-hardened trigger-plates with scallop shell finial, silver fore-end caps and escutcheons, original horn-tipped ramrods, and some original finish, London proof marks: in original fitted mahogany case lined in dark green velvet, the lid with flush-fitting handle and circular escutcheon, the interior with trade label of the fifth design (for 1822 onwards), and with some accessories including original Forsyth combination tool and original Forsyth cylindrical powder-flask (the barrels lightly patinated, the stocks lightly bruised, the case interior with minor patches of light wear).
