A COMPOSITE ITALIAN QUILLON DAGGER
Third quarter of the 16th Century
With sharply tapering blade of flattened-diamond section, ricasso inlaid with a copper inlaid mark, 'S', on one side, gilt-iron hilt comprising forward-curved quillons with down-turned spatulate terminals chiselled in low relief with leaves, centrally divided side-ring and bun-shaped pommel en suite with the quillon terminals, and moulded wire-bound grip and 'Turk's heads'.
