A GERMAN SPORTING CROSSOW
First half of the 18th Century
With blackened steel bow struck with a mark, retained by its original cords and with its original string, together with a series of decorative woollen pom-poms (probably early working replacements), fruitwood stock inlaid with small engraved bone plaques at the rear, engraved bolt channel, iron nut, small stirrup, iron trigger-guard (loose, one screw missing), set trigger, and folding back-sight (bolt-clip and bolt-seat each missing).
