Lot Essay

Cf. an example in the Hallwyl House Collection, Stockholm (1928 Cat. No. AA.1, pl. xxxiv).

The horn and ebony veneer matches the inlaid stocks of a series of wheel-lock holster pistols made circa 1585-90, the majority of which were made in Augsburg. A number of examples have been sold in these rooms, the most recent on 24th May, 2006, lot 121
