A GERMAN POWDER-FLASK VENEERED IN EBONY AND HORN
Early 17th Century
Of flattened triangular form, with wooden body veneered in panels of ebony set between contrasting strips of white horn, variously engraved with border patterns of fruit-filled strapwork and running leaves, the outer-face inset with horn plaques engraved with Jonah delivered from the Whale, gilt-brass top and base each cast with running designs of strapwork interlace, the nozzle en suite, and a pair of rings for suspension.
