A CASED PERCUSSION WALKING-STICK RIFLE BY LANG, 7 HAYMARKET, LONDON
No. 77, circa 1850
Constructed in two sections, the lower section rifled, fitted with fore-sight and back-sight, the breech numbered and with percussion nipple fitted for horizontal striking, and the muzzle with brass tampon cap incorporating the original iron folding ramrod, the upper section with wooden handle laquered in imitation of rough grain and with telescopic hinged action signed 'Dickson's Patent J. Lang 7 Haymarket London', fitted with folding trigger and separate spring-loaded striker, the two sections cast with raised irregular nodules and retaining most of their original laquered browned finish twisted in imitation of bark: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with trade label and most of the original accessories, including shot-flask and copper powder-flask (capping tool broken).
