A BHUTANESE SWORD (DHA); A CEREMONIAL ROBE (DOH) AND OTHER TEXTILES
The first 19th Century, the remainder, 20th Century
The sword with 'hairpin' pattern-welded single-edged blade with oblique tip, fluted horn hilt and basal brass collar, three-stage parcel-gilt silver scabbard, the upper and lower sections with segmented bands of flowers chased and gilt, the central section encased in rayskin with five sliding silver bands attached to a vertical bar on the inner face, and a single ring for suspension in an additional embroidered cotton cover and silk bag; the wild-silk robe of red and black thara fabric with pale green flanel lining and patterned silk collar; a multicoloured wild silk ceremonial fabric (chakispangkheb), double-faced, and a cotton country cloth (yutham), also double-faced.
