A GEORGE II SILVER-MOUNTED SHAVING SET,
UNMARKED, CIRCA 1730/40,
Comprising six silver-mounted tortoiseshell razors with steel blades, numbered "1" to "6" on the engraved mounts, a similarly mounted-glass cologne flask & silver-mounted sharpening stone & leather strop, (one fitting absent), contained in a silver-mounted leather-covered wood box of tapering octagonal form, lined in wine-red velvet, the silver escutcheon on front engraved with flowers, foliate scrolls & diaperwork, complete with key, a further escutcheon applied to cover, engraved with an earl's coronet above another coronet with antlers, 7 in. high (17.8 cm.)
