A VICTORIAN 4-COLOUR GOLD-CASED PROPELLING PENCIL,
INSCRIBED "S.MORDAN & CO. MAKERS" for SAMPSON MORDAN & CO., LONDON, CIRCA 1840,
Profusely decorated with flowers, thistles & leaves, the top set with a garnet, the slide formed as a leafy bud, screw-on cap, in original fitted case, the oyster-coloured silk lining printed with trade label in gold print, 3½ in. long (9.2 cm.), 4 5/8 in. long (12 cm.) when fully extended.
