MILITARY INTEREST:- A VICTORIAN SILVER REGIMENTAL MESS MUSTARD POT,
MARKS RUBBED, LONDON, CIRCA 1840/50,
Of inverted pear shape with shell, leaf, floral & gadroon border, the domed cover engraved with Roman numerals "XCII" for the 92nd. Highlanders, within a surround of "C" scrolls, surmounted by a sphynx commemorating the regimental battle honour "Egypt 1801", the bifurcated handle modelled as two boughs of oak terminating in oak leaf & acorn sprays, the body resting upon a calyx of thistles rising from an asymetrical, partly pierced foot, togethe with a plated mustard spoon, 5 in. high (12.5 cm.), 13.5 oz. (2)
