AN 18TH CENTURY RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER CIRCULAR SNUFF BOX,
UNMARKED, CIRCA 1775,
Circular with pull-off cover, engraved to simulate moirée silk, the border engraved with ribbon decoration, cover set with gilt medallion dated "1762", obverse depicting Empress Catherine II in profile to dexter, reverse with 3 allegorical figures around an altar, base with gilt reserve engraved with cypher below coronet, gilt interior, 3½ in. diameter (9 cm.), 7 oz.
