A Chinese wood figure of Guanyin, late Ming dynasty
carved seated on a rockwork base, her right hand in varada mudra, her left in vitarka mudra, wearing beaded jewellery over the loose robes, the face with eyes downcast and serene expression surmounted by an ornate foliate crown framing the top knot, traces of red and blue painted lacquer -- 24 3/8in. (62cm.) high.
