A Chinese blue and white dish, 16th century
with rounded sides, supported on a tapering foot rim, painted in the centre with a qilin in a fenced garden with its head turned up, the cavetto with cranes in flight amidst cloud scrolls, the reverse with medallions enclosing horses in flight, underglaze blue We Hsiu Chang Chun mark -- 12 5/16in. (31.2cm.) diam.
