A large Japanese Imari dish, 19th century
the centre enamelled and gilt with two rectangular panels enclosing pagodas in a mountainous river landscape with a bird and butterflies in flight above peony and chrysanthemum blossoms, framed by panels with dragon and phoenix roundels, all encircled by border panels with birds amidst cloud scrolls and trellis patterns, the reverse with peony and prunus sprigs -- 23 7/8in. (60.6cm.) diam.
