Only struck with mark of Gerard van Velsen, Bolsward, circa 1740
On a circular domed and ribbed foot, short plain stem, plain tapering oval body with scroll handle capped with a bird thumb-piece, hinged domed cover with ribbed border and squirrel finial, marked on base

Together with A German silver snuff-box, maker's mark possibly of Johann Jobst Soehlcke (senior), Hannover, circa 1750, also struck with a crowned D in oval shield (see Scheffler no. 1420), shaped oval, the bombé moulded body with hinged shaped plain flat cover, marked on inner rim, 7 cm. long, 54 gr. and A mother-of-pearl and silver-mounted étui, apparently unmarked, early 19th Century - 11.5 cm. long (3)
