A rare Dutch silver parcel-gilt pomander
Apparently unmarked, the Netherlands, 17th Century
On domed foot unscrewing to reveal a spice spatula with pierced foliate base and domed foliate C-scroll cover with suspension loop, the six loculi engraved with three oval strapwork medallions with, 'Spes' and 'Fides' and a coat-of-arms surmounted by a helmet and within scrolling foliage, the silver-gilt hinged compartments and sliding lids inscribed, Mosschaet, Nagelen, Blomen, Conel, Selach and Rosemaren
