Two closely related bells are in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington (for a discussion of each see, Motture and Pope-Hennessy, locs. cit.). The overall form and handle of the present bell is virtually identical to the London example, although the relief decoration is less fine. The Washington example is probably closer in execution, but still not certain to have come from the same hand. Each of those bells have been loosely described, as here, as 'Venetian, circa 1500 1550'.
