Zukai seigo Shinyaku Bassui faisei [Acupuncture and Moxa]. Kyoto: Katsumura Jiemon, Genroku 12 [1698]. 7 parts on native paper, each 270 x 170mm, the preface in Chinese, text in Japanese. Numerous woodcut illustrations and diagrams. Original brown papered covers with title slips (covers slightly worn, stitching renewed, a few marginal wormholes in volumes 3, 4 and 6.)
Okamoto's work is an explanation of an earlier treatise and discusses various aspects of acupuncture, including the theory, relationships of the pulse and how to use the needles. The illustrations include pictures of the lungs, intestines, stomach, heart, gall-bladder, kidneys and liver. Kerlen Catalogue of Pre-Meiji Japanese Books 1507. (7)
