"Two previous tasting notes confirmed what this tasting revealed - 1962 was an unequivocal success for the DRC. The 1962 La Tâche reveals an excellent garnet color with creeping rust and amber at the edge. The magnificent nose offers copious quantities of sweet, overripe black fruits, scents of truffles and cedar intermingled with woodsy, smoky notes. Sweet, with surprising viscosity and high alcohol, this creamy-textured, voluptuous La Tâche has been fully mature for some time. It is one of those remarkable wines that remains at its apogee as if it were immortal. It is absolutely spectacular from all perspectives - aromatics, texture, flavors, complexity, extraction, and finish. Wouldn't it be nice to have magnums of this stashed away!"
