"I have several notes but only in the more recent ones did I note the dates of disgorgement. Dining in March 1998 with my son and daughter-in-law in San Francisco, we had a magnum disgorged in April 1983: remarkably pale, a slightly fishy (Pinot) aroma; distinctly dry, fresh for its age, with lemon-like acidity. Eight months later, freshly disgorged bottles at a Bollinger tasting at The California Wine Experience: pale gold, a shiver of mousse, very fine bubbles; very fragrant, its age showing--a whiff of walnuts; good fruit, firm, dry, good acidity and a gentle frothy finish.
