The Swiss born architect, Peter Pfisterer, studied and trained in Europe before moving to Los Angeles, where he worked with Richard Neutra from 1933-1940. Pfisterer later became the California state architect for the National Youth Administration.
Pfisterer's design for this lamp took first prize in the Movable Lighting Equipment category at the Organic Design in Home Furnishings
competition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
