As catalogued, the offered lot was executed by Jorgen Jensen. Jorgen Jensen (1895-1960) was the second born son of Georg Jensen. He was educated at the City School of Arts and Crafts, Munich and was trained both at Georg Jensen silversmithy and by the goldsmith, Leonhard Ebert. Jorgen Jensen became a member of Georg Jensen silversmithy in 1917 and remained there until 1923; thereafter until 1936 he owned his own workshop in Stockholm. Jensen's objects have been widely exhibited in North America and Europe.

The present lot was designed by Sigvard Bernardotte, an heir to the Swedish throne, and executed by Jörgen Jensen in 1931. Five years later in 1936, Jörgen Jensen was appointed as the head of Georg Jensen Silversmithy.
