Lot Essay

In 1901 Josef Hoffmann designed the Villa Moll as well as its furnishings for the successful painter Carl Moll (1861-1945). This elegant hexagonal table was in Moll's first Vienna residence (Steinfeldgasse 8) and then in 1907 transfered to his second villa (Wollergasse 10), also designed by Hoffmann. This table is a unique early example of Hoffmann's furniture.
