AN HISPANO-MORESQUE LUSTRE DISH
FIRST HALF OF THE SIXTEENTH CENTURY, PROBABLY VALENCIA (MANISES)
Decorated in pale reddish-brown lustre and blue, the central lustred boss reserved with a flowerhead surrounded by smaller flowerheads, the well and border lustred with scrolling foliage centred by trees and divided by blue stylised flowerheads, the border with a pierced aperture for suspension, the reverse with a central rosette within spiralling lines enclosed by scrolling fern ornament around the border (chipping and flaking)
15 in. (38 cm.) diam.
