Each painted with a standing angel holding an orb and a sceptre within a yellow ground arched reserve above labels, one inscribed for FIL/oN.ROM. above a shield with the initials .C..R./.D., the other for .C.D.ANTOS:, against blue grounds with sgraffito scrolls and trophies in brown (one with large chip to foot and three areas of glaze flaking, some chipping to rims, other with chipping and glaze flaking to rim and footrim)

Lot Essay

A dated syrup-jar from the same pharmacy in the Strozzi Sacrati Collection is illustrated by Gian Carlo Bojani La Maiolica Italiana de Cinquecento Capolavori di Maiolica della Collezione Strozzi Sacrati (Florence, 2001) , pp. 108-9, fig. 14 a-b, and is attributed to Pesaro on the grounds of a dated fragment found on the site (see G.C. Bojani, ibid, p. 107, fig. 13).
