AN ITALIAN POTTERY SHALLOW DISH
EARLY 17TH CENTURY, PROBABLY VITERBO
Painted on pale slip in ochre, yellow, green, manganese and blue with a portrait of a man in profile to the left and flanked by the initials A .P. (?) within a cartouche of blue concentric circles, against a scale ornament ground enclosed by further concentric circles at the border (short crack at 3 o'clock, pitting and flaking to glaze at centre, glaze flaking to well and rim, slight chips to rim, three chips to footrim)
12 in. (31 cm.) diam.
