A CASTELLI RECTANGULAR PLAQUE
CIRCA 1750, PROBABLY BY NICCOLO TOMMASO GRUE
Painted in the typical palette with an extensive landscape with trees, ruins and figures in the foreground before buildings, a lake, mountains and a sunset within a manganese and ochre border (slight chip to centre of lower edge, minute flaking to edges, very slight chips to underside edges), in a giltwood and black painted frame (one angle damaged, flaking to gilding and paint)
The plaque 8 1/8 in. (20.7 cm.) high and 10½ in. (26.7 cm.) wide
