This casket is carved with the names and images of generations of kings of Poland, terminating in the two large images on the lid, Augustus II (the Strong) of Saxony (who was elected king of Poland when the Vasa dynasty of Polish rulers became extinct in 1696) and Augustus III, who came to the throne in 1733. It was presumably executed before the succession of the final king of Poland, Stanislas August Poniatowski, in 1796.
