Lot Essay

A piece with the identical structure but without the tiles and numbered 364, is listed in a Kimbel and Cabus trade catalogue, showing pieces dating from 1875 to 1900, located in the library of the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum. A closely related piece is featured in Anna Tobin D'Ambrosio, Masterpieces of American Furniture from the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute (New York, 1999), p. 124.
