AN IMPORTANT SWIMMING LOON
Believed to be from Long Island, New York, circa 1900
Small label on underside of base reads Cat.29, a very unusual form with slightly turned and lifted head. The head is attached with a small dowel. Carved eyes.
Original paint, good patina and minor wear. Small dents, short crack in tail. Weight and tie strap are missing. Black band on throat appears to have been strengthened.
8¾ in. high, 23 in. long
