Lot Essay

The instructions, which acknowledge the invention to 'Professor Plateau of Brussels', read: 'The eye ought to follow the subjects as they recede from or approach to the centre; as, for instance, the snakes, circles, heads, &c. which will be an improvement.' Ackermann's address is given as, 96 Strand, London.
