Charles, Viscount O'Brien, commanded the Irish brigade in the army of France, was made a Knight of the Order of St.-Esprit in 1746 and Marshal Thormond in 1757. In 1755 he married the Marchioness de Chiffreville. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., vol. I, p. 276.
