Each piece enamelled with the Keiller crest as if part of the colorful auspicious antiques, the interiors decorated with floral sprigs and tasselled borders, underside with the inscription Alice och James Keiller/Canton 1913 and six-character Republic mark

Lot Essay

This very rare dated piece was made for a descendant of Alexander Keiler, an 18th century Scot who immigrated to Gotheburg and became one of Sweden's largest shipbuilders. James Keiller was notable for salvaging in 1905-6 porcelain from a 1745 Swedish East Indiaman sunk in the Gothenburg harbor. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., vol. II, p. 704.
