Lot Essay

A more finished drawing by the artist of the same subject is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (K. Boon, Netherlandish Drawings of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries, The Hague, 1978, p. 19, no. 40). The attribution has kindly been confirmed by Professor Doctor Jaap Bolten in a correspondence dated 3 November 2006.
