'Changing the Letter' illustrates The Man Born to be King, one of the narrative poems in William Morris's Earthly Paradise, published 1868-70. The finished picture, dated 1908-9, is in the Birmingham Art Gallery and was included in the 1980 exhibition. No. B8 (illustrated in the catalogue).
