The tripod candlesticks are designed in the manner of Roman marble candelabrum as popularised by G.B. Piranesi's, Vasi, Candelabri, Cippi, Rose, 1778; and H. Mose's, Vases, Altars, Paterae, Tripods, candelabra, Sarcophagi etc., London, 1814, and are inspired by the celebrated Farnese antique tripod, which was brought to Naples in the mid 18th century and featured in R. Gargiulo, Racolta de Mumimenti Pui Intteresant Del R. Museo Barbonico, 1825 (pl.39) It also featured in the catalogue issued around 1900 by Jacopo Chiurazzi & Sons of Naples.
