Lot Essay

The verso of this work is page III from the sketchbook CP II, once owned by Adrien Chappuis.

The recto depicts a view of the Panthéon in Paris. According to Professor Reff (op. cit.), this was the view from the window of the artist's studio, 32 rue de l'Ouest, in the VI arrondissement.
