Yvette Szczupak-Thomas (1929-2003) was discovered by Christian Zervos in the 1940's and young artist quickly became a member of the avant-garde, whilst still a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1948, she fled to Israel with the help of Ida Chagall, her lifetime friend, where she remained and painted until her death.
