Lot Essay

A related pair of oval fluted frames in gilt carton-pierre was supplied to Edwin Lascelles (d. 1795) for the Yellow Chintz Bedroom at Harewood House, Yorkshire by Thomas Chippendale circa 1770 (C. Gilbert, The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale, London, 1978, vol. I, p. 203 & vol. II, p. 174).
