The domed lid and side decorated with floral swags and medallions, enclosing an interior lined with blue silk, above a mahogany-lined frieze drawer stamped 'EDWARDS & ROBERTS', on square tapering legs with block feet, the underside of the stand with depository label typed 'HENRY BARKER LTD., NOTTINGHAM' and inscribed in pencil with an illegible name

Lot Essay

Edwards and Roberts were established in 1845 and were trading as 'Edward and Roberts 21 Wardour Street, Antique and Modern cabinet makers and importers of ancient furniture' by 1854. They were well known for their high quality furniture that revived styles of earlier epochs, especially that of the late 18th century.
