Inlaid with boxwood lines, the superstructure with five mahogany-lined drawers surrounding a pigeon-hole, decorated with classical urns and ribbon-tied swags of husks and drapery, the green leather-lined writing-surface above a mahogany-lined frieze drawer stamped 'EDWARDS & ROBERTS', on square tapering legs decorated with trailing husks

Lot Essay

Edwards and Roberts were established in 1845 and were trading as 'Edward and Roberts 21 Wardour Street, Antique and Modern cabinet makers and importers of ancient furniture' by 1854. They were well known for their high quality furniture that revived styles of earlier epochs, especially that of the late 18th century.
