Each with a curved back with pierced guilloche and a central tablet painted with a scene of putti playing in a pastoral setting, with downswept arms above a caned seat, on turned tapering legs, two chairs with squab cushions covered in fawn herringbone, two chairs with black plastic Norman Adams label to back seat rail, later gilt (3)

Lot Essay

These chairs, with their decorative tablets and pierced guilloche backs can be related to a suite of cream-painted and parcel-gilt furniture sold by Lieutenant-Colonel Stephen Cave, OBE, Christie's, London, 17 November 1988, lot 50 (£126,500). The suite was subsequently in Partridge Fine Art's Summer Exhibition of 1989 (Catalogue, no. 26).
