A particularly interesting feature of this mirror - produced under the reign of King Adolf Frederick of Sweden (1710-1771) - is the use of early 18th Century elements, such as mirrored border-glasses, together with mid-18th Century and rococo elements, such as the pierced cresting and apron.
Two related mirrors signed Nils Sundström are illustrated in Torsten Sylvén & Elsebeth Welander-Berggren, Speglar, Spegelmakare & Fabrikörer I Sverige, Stockholm, 2000, p.221. A comparable mirror was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 2 April 1998, lot 11; and a further related mirror was sold, Rasmussen, Copenhagen, 28-31 October 1997, lot 4.
