A Log book for the whaling bark Kathleen of New Bedford
ca. 1900
detailing the second to last voyage of this ship under the command of Fed H. Smith. Departing New Bedford, Massachusettes on 19 June 1900, with numerous entries regarding course and weather conditions as well as numerous whale and tail stamps (some hand colored) many marked with the number of barrels of oil recovered from each whale. The voyage ended after the ship was partially dismasted in a gale off of Bermuda and returned home under jury rig. The last entry is on 27 September 1901 with the sighting of Block Island light.
